Merry Christmas!
On Tuesday, Devendra Banhart asked me to play a few songs that night at a star studded charity show at the Lodge Room here in Los Angeles. I asked Ellie to join me to sing some of our heartbreakers. But when i picked up the guitar to practice, this funny, sad, but NON AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL song started coming to me.
We played a rough version of it that night, and the next day I did an instagram live and played some of it. Will Maxwell, who works at this great studio in Glendale called Silent Zoo was watching and reached out about working on the track with me. He even sent me a demo of what he was thinking it could sound like. I loved it. The studio wasn't available so will came over Thursday night and we bashed it out in my garage, just the two of us. A really fun way to end the year!
I hear you’re back
Back for the holidays
Staying at your dads
I wanna see you
It’s been too long
But I don’t know if I can
I’m on cold medicine
I’m on cold medicine
I’m feeling half alive
I’m cold medicine medicine
I’m on cold medicine
And I don’t think I should drive
I’m in bed
Watching a movie
One i’ve seen before
Would you want to
Keep me company
And on your way stop by the store
Cuz i’m out of cold medicine
I’m out of cold medicine
I drank the bottle dry
I need cold medicine
Sweet cold medicine
We can split it and both get high
Do you remember, us on Christmas Eve
When we were Seventeen
The Robitussan stained our lips green
I took you home and your dad said where you been
I looked him in the eye and
Said we’d been Carolin…
But i think he knew
We were on cold medicine
Oh cold medicine
The only thing that gets me through
I need cold medicine
I want cold medicine
About as much as I once wanted you

Father John Misty is so good to listen to when I want to relax. My cat used to seem to like the music too, and we would both chill and listen to the FJM vinyls I own. This album on bandcamp was a nice FJM treat. Michelle May
This album sounds much better on vinyl than it does in the car (on digital) and I don't know exactly why. Something about the mix, needs larger speakers to make the quiet parts down low. And I think the digital flattens out all the dynamics. This is a very complicated album, but delicious. Very dynamic. It deserves the time it takes to get up and flip the vinyl every 2 or three songs. The song "Goodbye Mr. Blue" is up there with Sun Kil Moon's "Harper Road" .. heartbreakingly beautiful. Ian Caton
Irish singer-songwriter Sarah E. Cullen bares her heart over pastoral folk arrangements enshrouded in a dream-pop haze. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 29, 2021
Written as she was coping with an auto-immune disease, the new EP from Rachel Angel offers hushed, silvery ’50s-style Americana. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 23, 2020
Found this band after watching a series, and ever since I've been nonstop listening to the album. It's so mellow, but also allows you to also to jam and move around with its catchy beats! swiniii
